More Londoners set to cycle to work
More Londoners may be set to cycle to work after a scheme to encourage bike riding in the city was launched today.
Thousands of bicycles are now available for hire at 315 docking stations around the capital.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson believes the bikes which now occupy these stations will transform the look and feel of London''s streets.
Indeed, he said they are likely to become as much a part of the British capital as red buses and black cabs.
The bikes may prompt many people to shun transport such as private cars or the Tube and cycle to work instead.
"My crusade for the capital to become the greatest big cycling city in the world has taken a gigantic pedal powered push forwards," Mr Johnson commented.
This comes after David Brown of Transport for London said the cycle hire scheme will revolutionise how people get around the centre of London.
