Asda official encourages people to cycle to work
Britons have been advised to cycle to work by an official at supermarket chain Asda.
Andy Bond, who serves as part-time chairman in an advisory role, is a keen cyclist and believes travelling on two wheels offers a number of benefits.
Indeed, he said his employees who cycle to work on a regular basis tend to be more content and more productive.
Speaking to Cycling Weekly, Mr Bond said these people have also proved they are determined, dedicated and committed.
"If you are prepared to ride to work every day, then that determination will transfer to work," he commented.
"Personally, these are some of the qualities I look for in people."
Mr Bond added that a lot of staff at Asda''s head office in Leeds cycle to work on a daily basis.
He said the supermarket chain has provided plenty of facilities for these people, including showers and changing facilities, as well as bike lockers.
The comments come on the day a cycle hire scheme was launched in the capital by Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
