Cycle to work schemes ''can boost employee motivation''
Implementing a cycle to work scheme could be a great way to boost employee motivation.
According to Helium columnist Michelle Wilkinson, those who ride to the office on a bike can feel energised and positive by the time they reach their desk.
She suggested that those who cycle to work are likely to boost their general health, meaning they may be less likely to ring in sick with coughs and colds.
They will also reduce their chances of developing heart disease or high blood pressure, which could boost their long-term wellbeing.
In addition, people who cycle to work will see financial benefits through cutting the cost of their fuel bills or congestion charges in London.
"The benefits of cycling are too significant to be overlooked if you''re thinking about using your bike as an alternative form of transport to your car," Ms Wilkinson remarked.
People in the capital may be especially encouraged to cycle to work after London mayor Boris Johnson opened two new bike routes in the city earlier this month.
