Could using a recruitment consultant improve retention?

Finding a candidate who is a perfect fit for a job may improve the chances of retention, something that a recruitment consultant could aid a business with.

According to the Association of Recruitment Consultants (ARC), the fact that many skilled workers were laid off during the recession means that there is currently a talented pool of candidates in the UK.

However, finding these people is not as simple as it sounds and can require specialist knowledge.

ARC chairman Adrian Marlowe said he understands the frustrations many employers are facing at present with recruitment and retention.

He remarked: "Employers go scouring for candidates when a job comes up - whereas recruitment consultancies spend their entire time looking for suitable candidates for their sectors."

Mr Marlowe was reacting to a report by the Confederation of British Industry earlier this month, which found that 44 per cent of businesses are struggling to find skilled staff.

However, this remains below the levels of concern showed in March 2007, when 74 per cent of organisations reported similar problems.ADNFCR-2825-ID-19876035-ADNFCR
