Bosses ''need to get a grip of email systems''
The way employees communicate with each other in the workplace has changed a lot since the invention of email, but many company bosses are still not managing their systems correctly.
According to the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM), many firms were still not confident they were recording emails correctly, despite the development of full enterprise content management systems.
UK managing director of AIIM Europe Doug Miles said: "We''re still not getting a handle on emails."
He added: "If we can''t manage our information then we will have content chaos, but if we do manage it then we can leverage [it]."
Mr Miles argued that without proper content management, businesses would miss out on opportunities and would have a potentially chaotic information situation.
According to research from Radicati Group, the total number of hosted email mailboxes in Europe, the Middle East and Africa will rise from the current level of 536 million to 641 million by 2014.
